Our Purpose
The Versailles-Midway-Woodford County Human Rights Commission (VMWCHRC) was established on March 21, 1995, by the cities of Midway and Versailles and the Woodford County Fiscal Court. These three governmental entities entered into an "Interlocal Cooperation Agreement" establishing the VMWCHRC.

The purposes of the VMWCHRC as stated in the agreement are:

To provide for execution within the cities and county of the policies embodied in the Federal Civil Rights Act of 1964;
To provide for execution within the cities and county of the policies embodied in the Kentucky Civil Rights Act; and
To safeguard all individuals within the cities and county from discrimination because of race, color, sex, age, physical condition, religion, or national origin.
The VMWCHRC is also charged as follows:

"The Commission shall encourage fair treatment and equal opportunity for all persons regardless of race, color, sex, age, physical condition, religion, or national origin; and shall promote mutual understanding and respect among all economic, social, religious, racial, and ethnic groups and their members."

General Overview
The Commission has a total of fifteen (15) members. The Mayor of Midway appoints three (3) members; the Mayor of Versailles appoints five (5) members; and the Woodford County Judge-Executive appoints seven (7) members.

No elected county or city official may serve on the VMWCHRC, and all members serve without any compensation.
